The forthcoming management standard, ISO/UNDP 53001 Management systems for United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Requirements, is still in the final draft approval phase and is reportedly expected to be published in late 2026.
However, if you can’t wait or would like a sneak peek, I’d recommend reading the (free) publicly available specification – ISO/UNDP PAS 53002:2024 Guidelines for contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The specification is based on the common harmonized structure (HS), which is characteristic of all ISO management system standards, and is therefore applicable both on its own and as an integrated part of one or more existing management systems. – The specification also provides an insight into ISO/UNDP 53001, making it possible to begin the preliminary work on ‘the Sustainable Development Goals from a management perspective’ right now.
