I am a qualified engineer, B.Sc.Eng. (Chem), holding a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration, Organization and Management (HD-O).
Project management and facilitation
I have several years of experience within the field of project management, engineering and standardization. Primarily earned from the automation and manufacturing industry as hands-on project engineer, supervisor and technical project manager related to the development, commissioning and documentation of machines for special purposes and robotics.
Furthermore, I’m an experienced independant consulting engineer, among other things hired to develop and establish customized process-oriented management systems, conduct process mappings, analyze workflows, and not least identify, establish and implement best practices and frameworks for technical documentation in compliance with international and national standards, directives and regulations.
Process-oriented management systems
My interest in management systems and standardization of projects, processes and products has followed me throughout my entire professional career. I am familiar with using national and international standards, schemes, regulations and legislation, and appreciate working based on systemic principles and methods that make sense on the floor as well as in the drafting room and leadership area.
– With this approach in mind, I have established and implemented customized quality management systems in accordance with ISO 9001 and have correspondingly conducted mappings of environmental and working environment conditions in high-end manufacturing companies.
As an independant consulting engineer, I have primarily provided advice regarding the establishment, implementation and certification of environmental management systems in accordance with ISO 14001 and occupational health and safety management systems according to ISO 45001. This type of consultancy has primarily been addressed to SMEs which were challenged to meet their customers’ and/or the authorities’ demands for effective process management, traceability and sustainability.
My work with the management system standards covers both the strategic and operational level, and relates largely to the technical management discipline: principled documentation and reliable methods.
Principled documentation and reliable methods
My abilities to work systematically and analytically have particularly been expressed in my roles as responsible project manager for global standard engineering solutions applicable to the lab automation/cement industry, and as a facilitating project leader on the development and ongoing maintenance of de facto standard specifications applicable to the construction industry in Denmark. – Roles which, in different ways, entailed being the project manager and coordinator for the work of professional specialists (read: engineers), and at the same time being the one who set the agenda and ensured that there was a match between goals and means.
Assignments that relate to the establishment, development and framing of technical documentation, and systemic classification of products and product solutions, have thus also been loyal companions throughout my professional life.
I have always been up to date with current technological trends, new standards, legislation, directives, regulations and rules – and still am. This means that I am usually prepared to revise, describe and follow up on what is needed to be able to advise on and meet applicable statutory and industry-specific documentation requirements.
As an independant consulting engineer, I have worked in-depth with technical documentation in accordance with both the Danish Building Regulations (BR18), the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and specific European, German and Danish construction technical standards, conducted an initial mapping to calculate a manufacturing company’s CO2 footprint, prepared a CSR profile for a trading company within the steel industry, and carried out workplace assessments in accordance with The Danish Working Environment Authority’s regulations for a company within the surface treatment industry.
From a machine safety perspective, I have, for example, been responsible for CE marking of an integrated manufacturing system (IMS) according to ISO 11161:2007, carried out risk assessments and risk reductions according to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC Annex I and ISO 12100:2010. – I have also established the framework for instructions for use according to ISO 20607:2019, which in this context also involved training of operators, skilled workers and engineers to be able to identify and document critical machine and process engineering conditions and components.

International and cross-organizational experience
I am used to navigating environments that require collaboration across both professional groups, organizational levels and national borders.
My cross-organizational experience ranges widely. From facilitating meetings between specialists to reporting progress to clients, boards and steering groups, and conducting technically oriented workshops and training sessions for colleagues, clients, sub suppliers and other stakeholders.
I value the diversity in an international working environment and have throughout my career had the opportunity to work on several projects, which included people with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. I have been working at customers’ premises in the Middle East, South Africa and around Europe, and facilitated assignments between Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic and India as well.
As an independant consulting engineer, I have so far had a single assignment that involved traveling to the client’s production site in Central Europe.
Since September 2011, I have fully or partially carried out freelance assignments for small and medium-sized enterprises. In 2015, I became a full-time independant consulting engineer when I officially founded my company baldvinsdóttir.
In the period from 2015 to now, I have simultaneously held 3 short permanent positions as an engineer and consultant, among other things within the automation and software industries.
