On my way down the stairs in the lobby at the Danish Society of Engineers after taking part in a well-organized workshop in room 208 at Kalvebod Brygge in Copenhagen. ‘Strengthen your workflows with AI – Module 1’ was the title of the first of two workshops.
We were a small group of 10 participants who had already been instructed to choose a work process that we would each use as a starting point and enhance with AI chatbots (llm). After an initial introduction to AI, we were given a prompt that we could apply to our work process and subsequently challenge the chatbot with follow-up questions.
The feeling of being on the move and on the right track was overwhelming. Especially when it became clear to me that my self-developed relational databases for legislation, regulations and standards, etc., and frameworks for both technical documentation and documented information from a management system perspective, still have their place and can come into play within the realm of AI. I even floated the idea that I might throw myself into the AI programming side of things.
At the same time, it also made perfect sense to view the AI chatbot as a conversation partner, and not merely a reference tool. The second workshop followed two weeks later, during which we presented, discussed and evaluated our work on strengthening the work process we had already begun. At the same time, I had in mind my shift towards using European digital tools and platforms, rather than those of the usual American tech giants.
